WebPascal’s Wager was a groundbreaking theory posed by the French philosopher, mathematician, and physicist Blaise Pascal. Pascal, who is said to be the father of modern probability, felt that that religion should be approached as a gamble. It was one of the first efforts to incorporate the concept of infinity. Webarguments made a case for belief in God on the basis of a case for the truth of that belief; Pascal focuses on the happiness that forming the belief might bring about. This is presumably the point of Pascal’s emphasis on the question of “gain and loss.” But what is Pascal’s argument that belief in God will lead to greater happiness?
